Frank Hanson, Principal
Frank Hanson has performed with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra since 1984. A native of Stow, Ohio and currently living in Whitewater, Frank is a Professor of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and principal trumpet of the Whitewater Brass Quintet. He has performed as soloist on a number of occasions with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra in works by Shostakovich, Barber, Sallinen, Vivaldi and others. He has performed frequently on International Trumpet Guild Conferences in the United States, Scandinavia and Europe, and as principal trumpet of the Classical Music Festival Orchestra in Eisenstadt and Vienna, Austria. Before moving to Wisconsin to assume his position at UW-Whitewater, Dr. Hanson performed with the Akron Symphony, Canton Symphony, Columbus Symphony, and Pro Musica Chamber Orchestras in Ohio. He holds Doctoral and Masters degrees in Trumpet Performance from The Ohio State University. When asked what he likes most about his musical life, Frank comments: "The variety of activities, and flexibility. I have the opportunity to perform with good friends and colleagues, work with talented students, and help prepare future music teachers. In addition, I have a large degree of flexibility in establishing my own schedule and professional goals." Frank also performs with the Madison Symphony Orchestra.
