MASTERWORKS 2009-10
Concert Series
Capitol Theater
8:00 p.m.
Augustin Hadelich, a rising star, having won the 2006 Indianapolis Violin Competition, opens the season performing Menelssohn's Violin Concerto on October 9th. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary season, we have secured the exceptional talent of world class flutist, Sir James Galway, as he celebrates his 70th birthday year.
Sure to be a real crowd pleaser, the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet makes its WCO debut in January 2010 performing Rodrigo's Concierto Andaluz. Trumpeter Ryan Anthony wowed audiences during the 2008 Concerts on the Square season, and we welcome him back to perform Haydn's Trumpet Concerto as well as his signature work, Albinoni's Concerto St. Marc. on the piccolo trumpet. For the grand finale, pianist Stewart Goodyear returns to perform Hummel's Piano Concerto in A minor. We all remember his stunning performance for the opening concert of the Capitol Theater in 2005. The WCO will conclude the program performing Schubert's mighty Symphony No. 9, The Great.
All Masterworks Concerts have a pre-concert dinner and discussion beginning at 6:00 p.m. Call the WCO Office, (608) 257-0638, to make your reservation. The dinner menus for the 2009-2010 season....
